2023 Ford Escape

With the 2023 Escape, you can select one of seven trim levels: Base, Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-In Hybrid. The Ford Blue Oval is in the center of the oval grille, and there's a smaller lower grille. You'll also get chrome dual exhaust, a sculpted hood, sculpted sides, a rear spoiler, a back windshield wiper and washer, and 17-inch wheels.

You can add a power liftgate, fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, a rear skid plate, roof rails, privacy glass, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Available colors include Star White Metallic, Vapor Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic, Cinnabar Red Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Agate Black Metallic, and Carbonized Gray Metallic.

The 1.5-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost engine offers 180 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. With the Platinum, ST-Line Elite, and ST-Line Select trim levels, you'll get a four-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.0-liter EcoBoost motor that gives 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

Both options use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and automatic start-and-stop conserves fuel by preventing idling when you pause in traffic. Accessories like air conditioning and the radio stay on, and the vehicle restarts automatically when you use the accelerator. With the ST-Line and higher trim levels, you can choose a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine with an 88-kilowatt electric motor. They provide 200 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque combined, and they have a continuously variable automatic transmission (eCVT).

The 2023 Escape has outstanding acceleration, maneuverable power steering, and electronic curve control for making tight turns. Normal, Eco, Slippery, Sport, and Deep Snow/Sand driving modes are available. The 2.0-liter engine has a manual mode, and the plug-in hybrid can go up to 37 miles with only the electric motor. You can add all-wheel drive with a front-wheel-drive mode and an engine block heater.

With the rear seats folded, this SUV offers 65.4 cubic feet of cargo room. Other standard features include an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rotary gear shifter, two USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, and cruise and sound controls on the steering wheel. You'll also get an overhead sunglasses compartment, a compass, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker audio system, and an outdoor temperature display. You can add dual-zone climate control, push-button start, remote start, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, and a head-up display.

The Escape comes with dual-stage front airbags that can work at different speeds and protect you in many situations. Other standard features include automatic emergency braking, a security system, a rearview camera, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring. You can add parking assistance, traffic sign recognition, evasive steering assistance, and a 360-degree camera system.
