Inspiring Hope In October

We are proud to wear a pink ribbon during October as it signifies the worldwide campaign to increase awareness of breast cancer. Our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month here at McCandless Ford Mercer honors and supports the hearts stirred by this illness. Women are the yin to yang, brave, determined, and nurturing beings that are far too frequently affected by this disease.

“1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.” — The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

Building Community Awareness

Our team at McCandless Ford Mercer partners with two leading education and advocacy associations for cancer care within our community throughout October to spark hope, including the Oncology Patient Care Fund managed by the UPMC Community Foundation, and the Pink Angels, to raise awareness of breast cancer. The Oncology Patient Care Fund committee aims to provide gifts and financial support to patients and families who are associated with UPMC Horizon Health System. Patients are offered a gas card to assist with travel expenses related to ongoing treatment, along with gift cards from either Walmart, Giant Eagle, or ALDI. Based on individual circumstances, patients may also receive special, customized gifts as recommended by their care team. Pink Angels is a local charity initiative that started back in 2009. Its chief mission is to supply financial assistance for out-of-pocket expenses that medical insurance doesn’t cover, such as groceries, childcare, and gas cards for traveling to treatments. We believe in these foundations fighting a steadfast battle against breast cancer, and you too can make a difference!

Making An Impact

McCandless Ford Mercer will donate $5 for every completed service order ticket filled out at our dealership during the month of October. Last year we raised a total of $5,520 from both McCandless Ford locations, plus an additional $418 in donations from family and friends, for a great, encouraging total of $5,938! All of the funds raised this year will be dispersed evenly between these two incredible alliances. We are Ford Warriors In Pink®, who are here to make a difference and stop this illness before it grows. Help us raise an even higher amount when you schedule your maintenance plan today!
